Methodology

Methodology and scope

This is a self-report communication profile for reflection and discussion, not a medical, psychological, or relationship diagnosis.

The six dimensions

Questions use recognizable relationship situations and ask which response feels most typical. No side of a dimension is automatically better; the practical issue is whether partners understand the difference.

  • Expression: direct words versus signals, tone, and context
  • Conflict: moving closer for answers versus cooling down before returning
  • Support: solving the problem versus acknowledging emotion first
  • Security: explicit reassurance versus trust through space and consistent action
  • Intimacy pace: preferred rhythm of closeness, independence, and response
  • Repair: reconnecting through explanation, apology, action, or renewed contact

Research basis and item design

The design draws on research areas including adult attachment, perceived partner responsiveness, demand-withdraw interaction, social support, conflict repair, and relationship maintenance. Concepts are rewritten as everyday scenarios instead of copying proprietary scale items. The LCP type system is not MBTI and is not presented as equivalent to a clinical instrument.

How to read a result

Completed answers within one version produce six tendencies that combine into one of 16 memorable communication patterns. Type confidence describes fit with this answer pattern; it is not scientific accuracy, diagnostic probability, or a relationship success score. Mood, partner, context, and recent events can change responses.

Appropriate use

Use the result to start a conversation, compare preferences, and choose a more specific next action. Do not use it to diagnose a partner, label a mental-health condition, decide whether to end a relationship, or replace professional care.
